The Advantages and Disadvantages of Electric Pizza Ovens, on Your Quest For the Ultimate Pizza

Any serious chef needs the right tools. This includes the freshest ingredients, the best instruments and of course, a good oven. Pizza is one of the most popular foods in the world, and it requires a very special method and special tools to make it just right. Of course, it is possible to make a good pizza n a traditional oven with traditional tools, but for the genuine Italian experience, a special type of oven is needed.

The Italian oven

Pizza is traditionally cooked in a huge stone oven heated by burning wood. This is a very expensive, time consuming and difficult process, but produces by far and away the best pizzas in the world. Naturally, all of this effort isn’t for everyone, so as an alternative I present to you the electric pizza oven. Effective and easy, but at what cost?

Advantages

Two big advantages immediately spring to mind with this pizza oven; they are faster, and much, much smaller. There is no long wait for the oven to heat up, and it is very easy to get the oven to the right temperature. The electric oven is also much more portable than commercial pizza ovens, so you don’t have to have your whole garden or a special room in your house dedicated to this oven, as can be the case with the immense Italian oven. The size makes it perfect for home use and for caterers. The oven is also specially designed to bring out the flavors in the pizza.

Disadvantages

There are honestly not a whole lot of disadvantages to using an electric pizza oven over the traditional Italian model. For a professional pizza restaurant the look of the traditional oven would be a big draw for customers, and it does taste better, but overall the electric oven is a great purchase for almost anyone.

Choosing the Best Sides, Drinks and Desserts to Go With Pizza

Ah, piping hot pizza! Some folks could live on pizza alone, never eating anything else. The average American devours an amazing 23 pounds of pizza each year, and even more pizza if they live in a college dorm. And while pizza is definitely an American (and global) staple food, there are certain side items, beverages, and desserts that seem to be custom made to go with this favorite culinary treat.

Sides

Pizza is a filling meal in itself, but adding side items to your pizza delivery order can make it even more special. The most commonly requested side items to go with pizza include:

• Appetizers, like bread sticks, chicken strips, mozzarella cheese sticks, cheese bread, grilled eggplant, Buffalo wings, quesadillas, potato skins, nachos, calamari, coconut shrimp, or steamed clams. The type of appetizer that you choose will likely depend on the type of pizza that you order.

• Salad. A simple green salad is a great accompanying side item to go with your Issaquah pizza, but you can order a more robust salad as well. From chef’s salad to a plain garden salad, you can bone up on your veggies while enjoying a perfect side dish to go with your pizza.

Drinks

Many folks prefer the old stand-by drink for washing down their delicious pizza meal – soda. Soda, whether in cola, citrus, root beer, or other flavors, is an ideal beverage that can also be purchased in diet form for those who are watching their waistlines. Fruit juices are also a good choice that is a bit of a break from the norm for those who are big soda drinkers. The healthiest drink of all to have with your pizza is sparkling mineral water, which has no calories at all. For those who prefer a beverage with a bit more head to it, there’s always beer, either in tap or from a bottle. And for the sophisticate on your list who wants to enjoy their pizza in true Italian style, wine in a favorite vintage can really cleanse the palette at the end of the meal. Wine a bit too much? Enjoy a wine cooler instead for fewer calories and less of a punch.

Dessert

Some say that dessert is the best part of the meal, while others say that desert is entirely overrated and that they can’t afford the calories! Dessert adds a pleasant end to any meal, especially when served with a hot cup of coffee or tea. Pastry desserts like baklava are always a popular treat when eating Italian. Baklava is a golden pastry with flaky layers that are separated only by syrup and walnuts. Tiramisu is another Italian favorite. This rich cake is drenched in espresso and layered with a mousse made from mascarpone cheese and then topped off with cocoa sugar. From ice cream to cheesecake to pie, there are many desserts that fit the bill for topping off your pizza meal.

The Benefits And Guide To Using A Pizza Stone

A pizza stone is a simple kitchen utensil that is used and known for baking pizzas that come out of the oven with a more crispy crust. Pizza stones are also known for producing pizzas that are less fattening. These baking devices work by stimulating the extreme and even heat of an oven, especially the ones that use wood fire. These stones can also be used commercially in the restaurants of big hotels for instance, to make the perfect pizza for the customers. They can also be used in home ovens or on a grill giving the pizza a crispier and healthier crust. These special stones are quite easy to use as well as maintain.

Why Use a Stone?

There are a number of benefits of using a pizza stone, which include the following;

• Easy to clean. The stone is quite easy to clean, whereby, you will just wipe it off using a sponge and some water. There will be no need for scrubbing it.

• It balances the heat. The stone will also spread the heat evenly on the food being cooked. As a result, the food comes out evenly cooked.

• It gives the pizza a crispy crust. The stone is specifically meant to bake your pizza with a crispy crust, different from ones baked using an oven tray.

• Bakes faster and perfectly. Compared to the aluminum pan, a stone will bake much faster, but it will be well-baked. This helps to save you time.

• Easier to remove food when it is finished baking. When the food is ready, it will be easier to remove, since it will not stick to the stone.

Generally, the pizza stone is not just a stone, but more of a cooking companion, which will make baking easier.

How To Use a Pizza Stone

First things first, before you begin, you must have a pizza peel or paddle, which is used to put the pizza on the stone and into the oven. When that is done, you will need to do the following steps;

• Place the stone in the oven for preheating.

• Spread cornmeal or flour on the peel, prior to putting the dough on it.

• Place the dough over the peel, then add your toppings to the pizza.

• When the pizza is still in the oven, use a long spoon to spread the cornmeal on it.

• Use the peel to insert the pizza that is already on the stone into the oven and set your oven timer.

The baking time and instructions will depend on the type of pizza that you are baking.

Removing the Pizza

When your pizza is done baking, always know that the stone will be very hot at that time. If you want to remove it, never use a kitchen towel or the normal oven mitt. Conversely, you should use the same items you used to place the stone in the oven. Like you will need to use the peel to remove the pizza, before removing the entire pizza stone if that is what you want to do. Many people prefer to just leave their stones inside the oven until they will bake with it again. After you have already removed the pizza, you can remove the stone later when it has cooled down.
